Get your trekking shoes on!

Set off to Canada for this 11-day trekking tour on the Donjek Glacier, in Kluane National Park, renowned for being one of the most difficult but also one of the most spectacular in the Yukon! Beyond the mountain passes and rivers, you will hike along the huge glacier that flows over nearly 56 km from the largest non-polar ice cap in the world!

Itinerary

Day 1The adventure begins - Departure from Whitehorse

You will leave Whitehorse early this morning to get to Sheep Mountain’s Kluane National Park and Reserve (KNP&R) visitor center. There, you’ll register for the hike and enjoy the views of the Slim’s River valley and Kluane Lake. You will then keep driving north and 10 kilometers past the small community of Burwash Landing, you will leave civilization behind and begin the trek towards the Donjek glacier. The first day presents no particular difficulty.
As you’ll reach the Burwash Uplands, you’ll set up camp and spend the first night out in the wild.
Overnight in tents.
Meals included: lunch, dinner

Day 2 to 9Where we're going we don't need roads!

There are no signs along the route and all you’ll have to find the way will be a map, a compass, GPS and your guide’s skills and knowledge! Throughout the next 9 days, you will experience true wilderness trekking, going up and down steep and uneven mountainsides, bushwack through willow or spruce forest, and wade across fast flowing creeks.
Being alone in these land where it is not unusual to spot a moose, a bear or a caribou, looking at some of the highest mountains in North America is a feeling you will not soon forget!
Every night, the camp will be chosen wisely to appreciate gourmet meals before enjoying a well-deserved rest in the tents.
On average, you should expect between 5 and 7 hours of hiking each day, with a maximum elevation gain of 800m. You will also have two days ‘off’ (one of which will be just in front of the glacier), meaning that you can go explore the surroundings of the camp without large backpacks.
Nights in tents.
Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 10Return to Whiterhorse

As you hike along (and sometimes across) one last small creek, you will come across a dirt road and 5 kilometers further, the Alaska Highway! This is the end of the adventure, when a driver will come to drive you back to town.
You will arrive in town in the early evening. Your guide will be happy to give some recommendations on which restaurant to go to for your last evening in town!
Night in hotel in Whitehorse.
Meals included: breakfast, lunch

Day 11The adventure ends
