Are you looking for some adrenaline, on a super energetic and outdoor holiday that lets you dive in nature and do lots of sports? Then come to Canada for this 7-day wilderness hiking trip into bison territory, only a few kilometers away from Kluane National Park. Thanks to the two base camps available, you’ll be able to trek all day without the burden of heavy and bulky backpacks! What else are you waiting for? Get your trekking shoes on and set off to Canada!
You’ll leave Whitehorse in the morning for Haines Junction. From this small community, you’ll fly out by helicopter to the first camp. As you fly, you’ll leave civilization behind and discover the Yukon wilderness below and, to the west, the magnificent mountains of Kluane National Park. Once the helicopter has gone back, the team will set up the first base camp and, depending on the time of day you have left, you’ll go explore around camp before dinner.
Night in tents.
Meals included: lunch, dinner
You will explore the Ruby Range mountains for the next 4 days, coming back to camp each night. There are two base camps available on this adventure, the first one for three nights and the second one for two. You will discover beautiful views of Kluane National Park and will follow bison tracks that are all over the place! Keep our eyes peeled for wildlife such as caribou, moose, Dall sheep and maybe even grizzly bears, wolves or bison!
You’ll hike approximately for 5 hours each day and the elevation gain will range from 300m to 900m. Terrain varies greatly from alpine meadows to rocky slopes to side hilling and even bushwhacking. As no man-made trails can be found up there, the only trails you’ll follow are the ones made by the bison themselves.
Nights in tents.
Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner
On the afternoon of day 6, the helicopter will take you back to Haines Junction. On the same afternoon, you’ll drive back to Whitehorse for a free evening in town.
Night in hotel in Whitehorse.
Meals included: breakfast, lunch
Today you will catch your flight back home and, unfortunately, this adventure will be over. See you soon!
