Camping tour from Picton to Queenstown: the Southern half of New Zealand

Set off to discover New Zealand on a 10-day tour from Picton to Queenstown. During the trip the tour guides will show the most beautiful places of the country and let you discover the most hidden ones. Indulge in outdoor activities and adrenaline together with the charm of a city tour in Queenstown. New Zealand is waiting for you!

Itinerario

Day 1 The adventure begins - Picton and Kaikoura

Today’s route will follow the ocean coast and reaches Kaikoura, where close encounters with seals and seabirds are frequent. Camping on the beach. The waters of this stretch of coastline are the perfect place to get close to nature.

Day 2Kaikoura and Rangitata

At dawn, with the sun emerging from the sea, you will get a chance to swim with some of the most interactive dolphins in the world! Later on, there will be time to explore Christchurch and have lunch. Next up will be the Southern Alps. This night’s accommodation is at the headquarters of the Shearer (a real working farm), located at the foot of the Southern Alps.

Day 3Rangitata ans Pukaki river

Wake up in the mountains and, after breakfast, you will get a chance to go rafting on the Rangitata river. If rafting is not your thing, you can enjoy a ride through the forest. Continue south to Lake Tekapo. From there you will arrive at the campsite, on the shores of Lake Pukaki.

Day 4Pukaki lake - Moeraki - Mount Cook

Today you will go to the discovery of Aoraki national park, with an excursion to Mount Cook. Back on the coast, there will be a short stop at Oamaru and the village of Moeraki.

Day 5Moeraki and Dunedin

Stop at Moeraki, and then continue towards the town of Dunedin, whose name is the Gaelic version of Edinburgh. This city also houses the famous Speight Brewery, which offers an interactive guided tour.
The Otago coast extends along the eastern side of the island and Dunedin marks the halfway point. The campsite is located a few steps from the beach near St. Clair.

Day 6Moeraki

Today you will head to Fiordland. Much of the landscape has been carved out over thousands of years, resulting in beautiful trails interweaving through snow-capped mountains. Short stop in Te Anau, the gateway to Fiordland National Park and Milford Sound. Tonight’s camp is in the Hollyford Valley.

Day 7Hollyord and Te Anau

Travel along one of the most beautiful paths in the world at Milford Sound, carved by prehistoric glaciers. Enjoy the opportunity to take a boat ride, you will have the chance to see spectacular waterfalls, snowy peaks, and dolphins, penguins and seals! You will then return to the campsite on the lake in Te Anau. Along the way, greet participants who leave for the 3-day Trackburn Track, one of the 9 best walks in New Zealand.

Day 8Te Anau - Queenstown

In the morning visit Queenstown, on Lake Wakatipu. Once in the capital city, you can take a city tour, a free gondola ride or enjoy one of the many activities to choose from. Queenstown really has it all!

Day 9Queenstown

Queenstown deserves an extra day. The Routeburn Track hikers reunite with the group; in the evening, dinner in one of the city’s delicious restaurants and the chance to attend a real Kiwi party (extra).

Day 10Queenstown- the Adventure ends

One last chance to indulge in your visit to Queenstown before concluding the tour and greeting your fellow travelers around 2.30pm.
End of the adventure.

Changes in the itinerary may incur. Organizers may modify the tour accordingly to weather conditions to ensure the safety of participants.

Partner terms and conditions

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Shall participants cancel the booking, cancellation fees will be proportional to the advance of the notice (the day count does not include the actual day of the notification). Fees will apply as follows:

– Up to 45days before departure dates: 15% of total price
– between 44 and 25 days from departure date: 25% of total price
– between 24 and 15 days from departure date: 50% of total price
– from 14 days from departure date on: 100% of total price

The partners will have to inform participants of any special and more restrictive services/tours/flight tickets from the regular ones.

MODIFICATION OR CANCELLATION OF THE TRIP UPON DEPARTURE:

Shall, upon departure, the partner modify one or more elements of the contract, they will inform in written form the participants, indicating the type of modification and the consequential change in price. Shall participants not accept the new conditions, they may cancel the booking without additional costs or choose a different tour. They will also be completely refunded of all costs.

MODIFICATIONS AFTER DEPARTURE

Shall the partner not be able to cater even just a part of the purchased trip, they will have to give and alternative to participants without additional costs.

OBLIGATIONS OF PARTICIPANTS:

Participants will have to own valid travel documentation, together with any needed visas and medical certificates needed. They will also have to keep in mind social and health rules of the country they will be visitng.
